Is it Expensive to Follow an Organic Diet?

Eating organic food has a big impact on our health, something that not a lot of people are aware of. However, whenever we say organic, people have a connotation that it is often expensive and out of their financial capacity. In reality however, there are a lot of ways on how consumers can eat organic and healthy foods without spending too much. If you are going to follow the tips that are compiled below, then you’re on your way to a healthier life and body.

Tip number 1. Buy branded organic foods – there are chain stores that have their own organic food label or in other words, private brand. Most of the time, these are cheaper in comparison to other brands of organic foods in the market. You can actually get it for half the price whether you believe it or not. You just need to be meticulous with the organic vegetables and fruits you plan to buy.

Because of the reason that the skin of the apple is thinner than the other, it unfortunately absorbs more pesticides than other fruits and therefore, you need to buy organic apples only. Other veggies and fruits that have thicker skin are less dangerous to eat in nonorganic way since the skin provides better protection against pesticides.

Examples of non organic fruits and vegetables with thicker skins include pineapple, avocados, corn, peas, eggplant, onion and melon. With this in mind, it’s safe to eat these foods even if they are not organic however, just make it a point that you’ve rinsed it thoroughly.

Tip number 2. Check the price – don’t quickly assume that organic is already expensive because at times, organic products have the same price with its counterpart. With this, see to it that you’ve done price comparison for each.

Tip number 3. Grow your own veggies and fruits – if you are fond of gardening, then why not try growing vegetables and fruits organically. It’s true that it will take longer time to grow them but it will definitely cost you less than purchasing them in stores.

Tip number 4. Mix organic meat with beans – consider adding organic beans to your meat if you want to make more of your budget.

Tip number 5. Buy by lot – this is one effective and smart way of saving on any kind of food not only on organic foods. For instance, if you’re planning to buy organic chicken meat, you may buy the entire chicken than just the wings or things. This way, you have reduced the price per kilogram and saved enough.
